Tenerife’s New Arepa Burger Is Mixing Black Angus With Tirma… Somehow It Works

Someone in Tenerife has decided a normal burger just isn’t enough… and to be fair, they might be onto something.

Pangea in Puerto de la Cruz has come out with what they’re calling the first “arepa burger” in the Canary Islands.

And yes… it’s exactly what it sounds like.

You’ve got a double smash Black Angus burger, but instead of a normal bun, it leans into that arepa style… then they’ve gone a step further.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Avocado, tomato, lettuce
  • Cheddar and egg
  • And then… ambrosía Tirma and chocolate

Which sounds slightly (very) wrong at first… until you realise sweet and savoury has always worked when it’s done properly.

It’s priced at €15, so not cheap, but not outrageous either for something a bit different.

Whether it’s a gimmick or actually brilliant… that’s one of those you probably have to try yourself.
