The Cabildo is putting some money behind small businesses again… this time with a €600,000 fund aimed at helping people start or expand.
It’s focused on autónomos and small businesses, which is where most of the real activity on the island happens anyway.
What You Can Get
The base grant starts at €1,000, but it can go quite a bit higher depending on the setup.
You can get:
- +€6,000 if you open a street-level premises
- +€1,000 if the applicant is a woman
- +€1,000 if there’s a disability (30% or more)
- +€1,000 for business transfers linked to retirement
So in total… up to €10,000 per project if everything lines up.
What They’re Trying to Do
The idea is fairly straightforward.
Help people get started without that initial financial wall… and at the same time, keep local high streets alive rather than everything shifting online or shutting down.
There’s also a push towards generational handovers, which is something Tenerife quietly struggles with… plenty of businesses, not always someone to take them on.
The Reality
It’s not life-changing money… but for a small business starting out, it can make a difference.
Especially when it comes to opening a physical space, which is where most of the cost hits early.
As always, the key will be how easy it is to actually access.
