Burger Fest Canarias 2026 hits Santa Cruz… and it’s shaping up to be a big one

Food events in Tenerife can go either way.

Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s a few stalls, long queues, and overpriced chips pretending to be gourmet.

This one looks like they’ve actually put some thought into it.

Three days, and plenty going on

Burger Fest Canarias is back, and the 2026 final is taking over the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz from 27th to 29th March.

They’re calling it the biggest burger festival in the Canary Islands and with around 50 food stands, they’ve probably earned that title.

And it’s free to get in, which immediately makes it more appealing.

Not just burgers… but to be honest, it’s mostly burgers

You’ll get a mix of local Canarian burger spots alongside some national and international names.

So it’s not just the usual. There should be a decent range.

They’ve also included vegan and gluten-free areas, which, these days, is expected… but still worth doing properly and that means everyone can actually eat something decent instead of picking at sides.

The New York import

The standout name this year is Gotham Burger Social Club.

Coming over from New York, first time in Europe.

That’s the sort of thing that creates a bit of buzz.

Whether it lives up to expectations… we’ll see. But it’ll definitely pull a crowd.

Beer, wine… and no shortage of either

Over 50 beer taps, including craft options.

Plus a section for Canarian wines and local bodegas.

So even if burgers aren’t your thing… which would be odd at a burger festival… you’re still covered.

It’s been built as a full day out

This isn’t just food and go home.

There’s live music running throughout all three days, starting from early afternoon.

You’ve got names like Los Sabandeños in the mix, along with DJs and various live acts across the weekend.

There’s also a kids’ area, which makes it a bit more family-friendly and less of a “stand around drinking all day” type of event…although… let’s be honest, that’ll still be happening.

Times worth knowing

Friday and Saturday run from 13:00 to midnight.

Sunday finishes slightly earlier at 23:00.

So you’ve got plenty of time to wander in, eat too much, leave, then come back again later.

Which is probably what most people will do.

Something different to do

Santa Cruz has been making more of an effort with events like this.

And it shows.

It gives both locals and tourists something different to do… not just the usual beach or bar routine.

When these things are done properly, they work.

Good food, decent atmosphere, a mix of people… it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that.

This one looks like it’ll tick those boxes.
