If you’re in the south of Tenerife on Friday 13 March 2026, there’s a religious procession taking place in Adeje that’s worth knowing about.
At 6:00pm there will be a Eucharist at the Parish of Our Lady of the Field in Fañabé. After the service, the image of the Lord will begin the procession towards the centre of Adeje.
Around 7:30pm it’s expected to arrive at Plaza Cruz del Llano in Adeje town, where the Stations of the Cross will begin as the procession continues towards the Parish Church of Saint Ursula.
The final stations reflect the closing moments of the Passion:
XIII. Jesus in his Mother’s arms
XIV. Jesus is buried
XV. And on the third day he rose again
The event concludes inside the church with prayer, a blessing, and the veneration of the Lord and the Lignum Crucis.
If you’ve never seen one of these processions before, they can be quite moving. Even if you’re not religious, they’re an important part of local tradition here in Tenerife.
