Carnival in Tenerife isn’t just about the big parades and loud music. Some of the nicest moments actually happen on stage.
One of those moments came during the Gala de la Reina de los Mayores at the International Carnival of Los Cristianos, an event that celebrates those who still enjoy carnival with the same enthusiasm they’ve always had.
The evening was full of emotion, elegance and plenty of smiles as each candidate stepped onto the stage with their own energy and passion for the festivities.
It’s a lovely reminder that carnival here really is for everyone, and that the joy of dressing up, performing and celebrating doesn’t disappear with age.
The audience enjoyed a gala filled with applause, nerves and some wonderful moments between the participants, creating the kind of atmosphere that makes this event one of the most special parts of the carnival programme.
At the end of the night, Doña Luisa Negrín Alfaya was crowned Reina de los Mayores 2026.
Representing the Centro de Mayores de Guargacho, she impressed the judges with a fantasy costume designed by Cristo Beltrán, with sponsorship from Siam Park and Loro Parque.
Congratulations also go to all of the participants, who helped create a night full of warmth, celebration and carnival spirit.
