Every now and then you’ll see something happening in the local villages here in Tenerife that reminds you that this island still holds on to its traditions pretty tightly.
One of those moments is the Via Crucis, and on Wednesday 11th March 2026 the Fourth Via Crucis of the People, titled “Way, Truth and Life”, will take place between Armeñime and Los Olivos.
Things begin at 18:00 with the Eucharist in the Parish of the Resurrection in Armeñime. After the Mass, the procession will set off towards Los Olivos.
By around 19:30, the Via Crucis procession will continue from Los Olivos towards the Parish Church of San José.
Along the route, several Stations of the Cross will be reflected upon, including:
- Station VII – Jesus falls for the second time
- Station VIII – Jesus comforts the daughters of Jerusalem
- Station IX – Jesus falls for the third time
The evening will conclude in the church with prayer, blessing, and the veneration of the Lord and the Lignum Crucis.
Whether you’re religious or simply interested in local traditions, these events are part of everyday life in the villages here. They’re quiet, respectful, and very much part of the culture of the island.
