Walking 125km of the Camino for people affected by breast cancer

There’s something about walking that clears the head. Anyone who’s done a long hike knows that. One step, then another, and before you know it you’ve covered miles.

Now imagine doing that with people who’ve been through one of the toughest battles life can throw at them.

The Fundación Canaria Carrera por la Vida – Walk for Life is organising the 4th edition of the Camino de Santiago por la Vida, a solidarity walk aimed at women and men with breast cancer and the people who support them.

From 29th August to 6th September, the group will walk 125 km of the Camino Francés.

It’s not about speed.
It’s not about records.

It’s about sharing time together, talking, listening and building connections with people who truly understand what the journey with cancer looks like.

Along the route there will also be moments dedicated to raising awareness about early detection and highlighting something that deserves to be seen more often… survival.

There will be support and assistance throughout the walk, so participants won’t be tackling the route alone.

As the saying on the Camino goes:

“The journey is the destination.”

And in this case, every single step matters.

The initiative is supported by the Health Department of Adeje Town Hall and the Sports Department of the Government of the Canary Islands.
