Every now and then something pops up that reminds you Tenerife isn’t just about beaches, bars and property viewings.
There’s actually a growing film and animation industry here as well…quietly getting on with things behind the scenes.
A good example of that is 3 Doubles Producciones, a Tenerife-based production company that is presenting its latest project “Flamingo Flamenco” at the Animation Trends sessions during the Malaga Festival today.
Now in its ninth year in the industry, the company has built a solid reputation in the animation world, and this new project looks like it’s adding a bit of Canarian flavour to the mix.
“Flamingo Flamenco” combines adventure and comedy, with flamenco music forming the heart of the soundtrack.
The story follows Rosie, a young flamingo who faces personal loss and has to rebuild her confidence. Along the way, she discovers that dance might just be the key to helping save her flock.
Not your typical superhero storyline…which is probably part of the appeal.
The studio behind it, 3 Doubles Producciones, is part of the Tenerife Film Commission network and works with a team of more than 200 professionals. Over the years they’ve built an impressive portfolio of animated films including:
- Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow
- SuperKlaus
- Norbert
All of which shows that there’s quite a bit more creative talent on the island than most visitors realise.
