Santa Cruz to Host Women’s Volleyball Promotion Playoffs (April 23–26, 2026)

Volleyball doesn’t usually make much noise here… but this one’s a decent event.

Santa Cruz gets the spotlight

Santa Cruz is hosting the promotion phase to the Liga Iberdrola this April, held at the Quico Cabrera Pavilion from the 23rd to the 26th.

It’s basically the final step for teams trying to get into the top division of women’s volleyball in Spain.

Four days. Six teams. Two promotion spots.

Simple enough.

A big moment for local teams

What makes it more interesting is that Tenerife isn’t just hosting… there are three local teams involved:

  • CV Cuesta Piedra
  • CD Élite Rosario
  • CV Aguere

So there’s a decent chance the island could end up with a team in the top league next season.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

How it works

Six teams from across Spain come together after the regular season, and the best two go up.

The ones coming down this year are Kiele Socuéllamos and Feel Alcobendas, so there are places to fill.

Short format. High pressure. No room for mistakes.

The bigger picture

Events like this don’t just appear out of nowhere.

There’s been a steady push to bring more national-level sport to Tenerife, and hosting something like this is part of that.

It brings people in, fills hotels, and gives local teams a proper stage to compete on.

And for once, it’s not all about football.

Worth a look?

If you’re in Santa Cruz that week, it’s probably worth popping in.

Even if you don’t follow volleyball, these promotion phases tend to be competitive… and a bit tense.

More on the line than your average league match.
