Six new police vehicles in Arona might not sound exciting… until you’ve tried getting through Los Cristianos on a busy afternoon.
The Local Police in Arona have just added six new vehicles to their fleet. And to be fair, it’s not just a cosmetic upgrade.
What’s been added?
Four new motorcycles for the Traffic Unit.
One incident report van.
One specially adapted van for the K9 Unit.
The idea is simple enough. Faster response times. Better coverage. More modern kit.
And in a municipality like Arona, that actually matters.
Motorbikes make sense
If you know this part of the island, you’ll know traffic can be a nightmare. Between tourists, residents, delivery vans and the occasional confused hire car driver, things get messy.
Motorcycles are far more practical for weaving through congestion and reaching incidents quickly. Especially during events or peak season.
The atestados van is also a sensible addition. Road traffic reports, documentation, on-site processing… it’s not glamorous, but it’s necessary.
And the K9 unit getting a properly adapted vehicle is long overdue. Police dogs aren’t exactly designed to sit in the back of a standard patrol car.

Modernisation… finally
This is part of a broader push by the Ayuntamiento to modernise the police force’s resources.
Updated equipment. Safer vehicles. Better working conditions for officers.
It’s easy to roll your eyes at these announcements. But when something actually happens and you need a quick response, you want them properly equipped.
Arona isn’t a sleepy village anymore. It’s one of the busiest municipalities in the south. Tourism, nightlife, residential areas, events… it all adds up.
Better tools should mean better service.
Let’s hope it translates into visible presence and quicker response times, not just a nice photo opportunity in the plaza.
Either way, if you see a few shiny new police bikes around Los Cristianos or Las Galletas… now you know why.
