Father Pays Nearly €200 Restaurant Bill After Son and Friends Dine and Dash at Tenerife Guachinche

You hear plenty of stories about people doing a “simpa” in bars or restaurants… ordering food, eating it, and then disappearing without paying.

What you don’t hear about very often is what happened the next day at a guachinche in Tenerife.

A bill of almost €200

The incident took place at Guachinche El Fogón, which shared the story on its social media.

The day before, a group of young diners had left the restaurant without paying their bill, which came to almost €200.

The restaurant posted about the situation online and even shared an image of the car the group had used when leaving.

The father recognised the car

Not long after, something unexpected happened.

The father of one of the boys saw the post… and immediately recognised the vehicle.

According to the guachinche, the man turned up at the restaurant visibly embarrassed and paid the entire bill himself.

It turns out he’s also a regular customer of the restaurant, which probably made the situation even more uncomfortable for him.

A gesture of honesty

The restaurant later thanked the man publicly for what they described as a gesture of honesty.

“We just want to thank him for the honesty he showed. Hopefully the children learn something from their father’s values, because gestures like this say a lot about a person,” the restaurant wrote.

Support on social media

The post quickly filled with supportive comments from people praising the father.

Some wrote things like:

  • “We need more people like this.”
  • “That says a lot about the man.”
  • “Hopefully the son learns from his father.”

Although a few people also suggested the father should have brought his son along to face the situation as well.

Either way, it’s not every day you hear a story where someone actually comes back to put things right.
