Every now and then a town here decides it’s time for a bit of music, colour and a good excuse for a party.
Candelaria is doing exactly that at the end of April with its Feria Andaluza, and if you enjoy a bit of Spanish atmosphere, it should be a lively afternoon.
The event takes place on 25th April in Plaza de Santa Ana, starting from 1pm.
Expect plenty of music, dancing and the sort of festive mood that tends to appear when sevillanas start playing and someone opens a bottle of wine.
There’ll be live performances from the musical group Son de Sevilla, along with a performance from the Candelaria Municipal Sevillanas School, which should bring a bit of proper Andalusian flair to the square.
These sorts of events are usually very relaxed. Families turn up, friends meet for a drink, people dance a little, watch the music, have something to eat and generally enjoy the afternoon.
And yes, you’ll probably see a fair few flamenco dresses and polka dots making an appearance as well.
If you fancy something a little different to the usual weekend plans, it might be worth popping along and soaking up the atmosphere.
Sometimes the best days here are the simple ones. Music, sunshine and people enjoying themselves.
Hard to beat that really.
